Job Overview:
As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) for Autonomous Surface Vessels (ASVs), you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the development, implementation, and execution of ASV programs. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, and ensure the successful delivery of ASV solutions, services, and field activities that meet the Customer's requirements and exceed expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Technical Management:
- Lead the end-to-end technical development of autonomous surface vehicle systems, including HM&E, Perception / Autonomy, software, and integration.
- Define technical requirements, specifications, and deliverables in collaboration with engineering, product, and operations teams.
- Drive the development lifecycle, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget.
- Facilitate communication and alignment between cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
- Oversee system integration, testing, and validation to ensure seamless operation of autonomous surface vehicles.
- Field Operations Management:
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee field operations for autonomous surface vehicle testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Collaborate with field teams to ensure safe, efficient, and effective execution of operations in real-world environments.
- Manage logistics, including equipment, personnel, and schedules, to support field activities.
- Monitor and report on field performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Risk Management:
- Identify, assess, and mitigate technical, operational, and programmatic risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and implement risk management plans, contingency strategies, and mitigation measures.
- Conduct regular risk reviews and ensure proactive resolution of issues that could impact project timelines, quality, or safety.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and safety protocols for ASVs.
- Project and Field Exercise Planning and Execution:
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budgets.
- Track progress against milestones and deliverables, providing regular updates to stakeholders and leadership.
- Manage dependencies and resolve conflicts to keep projects on track.
- Drive continuous improvement by incorporating lessons learned into future projects and processes.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Act as a primary point of contact for technical and operational stakeholders, including internal teams, external partners, and clients.
- Present technical updates, project status, and risk assessments to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to support program success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, business administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Proven experience (5+ years) in technical program management, preferably in the defense industry or related fields.
- Demonstrated success in leading and managing complex, cross-functional projects from conception to completion.
- Strong understanding of autonomous systems, maritime technology, and defense procurement processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies, such as Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall.
- PMP or other relevant certifications are a plus.
- Active security clearance or eligibility to obtain one is preferred.
